Kayaking Fishing and a Marlin - Photo by Jock Bradley

Have you ever wondered, "What's the deal with kayak fishing and why is it so popular these days?

Well, it looks a whole lot more interesting then sitting on shore like Opie did in the Andy Griffith Show. One of the biggest appeals is the fact that when you hook on to something, you get dragged around quite a bit making even the smallest fish seem much bigger.

So, what happens when you hook onto a 300lb Marlin? Well, you get taken for the ride of your life. That is what happened to Alaskan Howard McKim when he was out fishing on the Sea of Cortez during the shooting of the upcoming kayak fishing film, ExOfficio presents Kayak Fishing: Game On.

During the four hours it took to reel in the big one, Howard was towed nearly 11 miles out to sea.

Even though I'm not a fisherman at all, the video below looks really cool and I would love to give it a try some day.
