Georgian Bay Kayak and Canoe Festival Recap

White Squall in Parry Sound put on another fantastic kayak and canoe festival. Sadly, I was only able to be there for the Sunday but I heard that Saturday was well worth it.

The weather over the weekend wasn't very good and it had an effect on the number of people there but it basically meant that it was all keeners anyways so that was OK. Saturday, it poured rain all day. One of those good old fashioned steady rainstorms. Luckily, it didn't rain on Sunday but we were left with really cold temperatures in the morning followed by high winds in the afternoon.

I was OK with it as I had the old dry suit running and piles of fleece underneath.

I found myself out on the water all day helping out with a couple sessions as well as leading a couple of Greenland clinics. Other then that, I basically fooled around out on the water.

It was always great to see some old friends and meet new people. I finally got a chance to meet friend of the site, Mike Allen who runs Breaking Waves Eco-Adventures. He presented this weekend on the Leave No Trace program as well as an intro to birding.

Tim and the gang at White Squall always puts on a fantastic weekend and if you didn't get a chance to get there this year, book it in your calendar for next year. I know that you won't be disappointed.
