The expensive weekend of lost gear

It started out this past Friday night when we discovered that the video rental card was missing. I had to replace it but it cost me $2.50. That was ok said the guy at the video store because if I found the old one later, they would buy the replacement card back. Things were looking good.

Suunto Vector Saturday morning things didn't look so good anymore when I discovered mid morning that my Suunto Vector watch was missing from my wrist. I never go anywhere without it as you never know when you might need to do an emergency barometer reading.

I'm really not sure where it went but we looked all over the house to no avail. The band could have broke and it fell off on the street somewhere or; it could be sitting right under my nose squirreled away somewhere in the kids costume collection. Ugh. Still on the hunt though.

Could it get worse? Don't worry, it did.

Then the weekend ended Monday morning on a really low note when biking to work, my glasses case (with gasses in them) fell out of my pocket on the way to work. Upon discovery, I turned around and rode back home again scanning the ground only to find...nothing. I'm back to an old glued together set of glasses until the replacement set comes in.

So, with that expensive weekend, I was really scared to ask my wife this morning if she saw my house keys. I searched in silence until I found them in my jacket pocket.

... without decent glasses you'll never miss the watch you cannot see... and no need to buy another expensive one either!

I guess there is always a silver lining to you... I had to work a full day without glasses as I couldn't find my old spare pair (we thought they were broken so didn't really look). Since I couldn't see peoples faces to well, I found myself staring at them much longer then socially acceptable. It was that old, "If I can't see them, then then they must not be able to see me!"

Poor David! Now you know why I'm so paranoid about my specs on trip (2 pairs at all times...) - if I lose them, you basically have to put a line on me and tow me home!
