Google Earth - How it's made

By:
Google Earth Found an awesome blog posting by Google on how Google Earth Came to be and how they process the images of our little blue planet.

It is a really fascinating read.

"Most people are surprised to learn that we have more than one source for our imagery. We collect it via airplane and satellite, but also just about any way you can imagine getting a camera above the Earth's surface: hot air balloons, model airplanes - even kites."

I was directed to this fantastic video. Probably not the safest or most efficient method to get up the river but pretty funny indeed.

As one person put in the comments box on youtube, "Excavator on a barge, that's a paddlin!".

Kayaking in the Desert

By:
National Geographic Logo National Geographic recently posted a video report of John Bowermaster's 2003 trip to the arid altiplano region of South America.

Watch Bowermaster and his team as they haul their sea kayaks past volcano's and across salt beds in an expedition to paddle kaleidoscopic mountain lakes and reconnect with the desert's watery past.

Eddyline Kayaks History

By:
Eddyline Kayaks

Eddyline Kayaks recently posted a really well developed promotional DVD on the history of their company. I really enjoyed the archive footage that was scattered throughout.

I was also pleasantly surprised not to hear the scary narrator's voice that made me hide under my bed covers that last time I visited google video ...
