NCCP Canoe and Kayak Coaching vs PC Intructor 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hi all

Probably a more provocative title than it needs to be, but I was wondering if any of my fine fellow PC Instructors have experienced or gone through the NCCP flatwater coaching program, and specifically, how much cross over have you found that you can apply to your PC coaching?

I've been mulling over getting onboard with the NCCP stuff for awhile now, so any thoughts someone might have would be greatly appreciated!

cheers

Michael

Hello there. Thanks for the note. I have never gone through the NCCP coaching but I think that it would be really interesting and probably help greatly with your ability to fine tune students at an intermediate and advanced level.

As you know the NCCP would look at canoeing/kayaking from a competitive focus which could be very helpful in rounding out your teaching skills.

The only person I know who has worked their way up the NCCP and Paddle Canada programs is Doug Alderson from Skils. He is fairly high up in the NCCP Judo coaching program and is a Senior Instructor Trainer with Paddle Canada. Though not NCCP canoe/kayak coach, he can probably give a good perspective on the two different programs.

You can find his contact info on the Skils staff website here.

Let us know what you decide to do and we would be interested in finding out what you turn up.
