September 27, 2007 (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) - Big Agnes® Inc., maker
of innovative sleeping bags, pads and tents, is proud to announce that
its Emerald Mountain SL2 tent was awarded a gold medal in the China
Outdoor Equipment Contest at the recent Asia Outdoor Trade Fair, in
Nanjing, China.
"We
are extremely pleased to receive another award for the Emerald Mountain
SL series," says Big Agnes co-founder, Bill Gamber. "Being honored at
the Asia Outdoor Trade Fair will help us gain exposure and recognition
in China and beyond. This is an achievement that Big Agnes is very
proud of."
Officially named the 2007 China Outdoor Equipment
Contest, Big Agnes' Emerald Mountain SL2 was awarded the gold medal in
the tent category. In addition to this award, Big Agnes' Emerald
Mountain SL tents have received several prestigious awards for "BEST"
tent in 2007 from several US publications including Backpacker and
Outside. The Emerald Mountain SL Series combines the benefits of Big
Agnes' lightest free-standing tents with roomy interiors and two
opposing doors and vestibules. The tent poles, DAC Featherlite NSL,
feature an environmentally anodizing process that significantly reduces
the use of hazardous chemicals, as well as Reverse Combi pole
optimization for increased strength and weight savings.
"Big
Agnes has changed the way people look at tents. Traditionally, tent
manufacturers have opted for stronger materials increasing the weight
and strength of their designs. The Emerald Mountain SL2 is stronger
than most with lighter materials," says Billy Guo of Amphilon Inc.,
distributor of Big Agnes in China. "We also notice that China's core
outdoor enthusiast gravitates towards the lighter color schemes
featured in the Emerald Mountain SL series."
Held from August
23-26 at the Nanjing International Exhibition Center, the Asia Outdoor
Trade Fair included 214 outdoor exhibitors, approximately 500 members
of the media and 8218 trade visitors from 16 nations. For more
