A CANOE and kayak club launched by Northumberland College's outdoor education team is proving to be a major success story.

A CANOE and kayak club launched by Northumberland College's outdoor education team is proving to be a major success story.
Students
can now participate in various activities including play boating and
flat water coaching to develop personal and coaching skills outside of
normal college time.
The club is based at the college's Water
Sports Centre in South Harbour, Port of Blyth, and has already proved a
success with 24 members having joined so far
It is run by a team
of highly qualified and experienced coaches, including Fergus Lynch of
the British Canoe Club and Carl Halliday of the British Canoe Union.
Carl,
who is also a course team leader for outdoor education and training at
Northumberland College, said: "The canoe and kayak club will be a great
benefit to the local community offering various opportunities to people
who would like to try this exciting activity"
The club is open to all members of the community.
