If you ever find yourself looking for high resolution images of earth, stop by Unearthed Outdoors
and pick up a complete set there for free. The images have been split up into different resolutions which you can get down to 250m available in both .png and .tif formats.
Downloading them isn't for the faint of heart as they can be up to 250 megs each but that is nothing compared to their high resolution commercial product. There, you can get satellite resolution down to 15m! Total size for the entire dataset is 3 terabytes and costs between $25,000 and $125,000 depending on your needs.
